With the increasing popularity of plasma displays both for commercial and residential use, many questions have begun to circulate about the technology -- particularly when directly compared to LCD monitors. Keith Yanke, product specialist with NEC, dispels myths and finds truth concerning plasma displays. While both technologies offer many advantages, Yanke supplies the truths and facts behind the most commonly misunderstood perceptions about plasma displays.

You know DVD Studio Pro can use motion masks. You've seen them in action in some of the themes supplied with the program, but, for the life of you, you can't figure out how to make your own. Motion masks allow you to add transitions to your individual button shapes without affecting the entire menu. You can use them to create transitions for your buttons, add effects or even fade drop zones in and out. So why don't you have the ability to create your own custom motion masks? Umax Astra 4950 Desktop Scanner

Ten years ago, there was no desktop scanner that could output 1200 x 2400 dpi hardware resolution. Six hundred dots per inch was pretty much the top of the mountain, and these devices, from companies such as Epson, Microtek, HP, and Umax, cost more than $1000. Transparency adapters were an optional, added expense. Just a few short years ago, a scanner that output 1200 x 2400 dpi hardware resolution-based images cost a few hundred dollars. Today, that scanner can be had for under $100.
