The Next Show: CEDIA
By Gary Kayye, CTS
Well, trade show season is getting ready to begin again. The three-month break between the last show of the season, InfoComm, and the first show of the next season, CEDIA, is about to come to an end. No more vacation for people like Mike Henry, Extron's tradeshow manager, and Dorina Belu, a staple at virtually every Christie Digital event.

Readers Respond
Last week's column by Gary Kayye, "A Case Study in Credit Card Fraud: A Dealer's Story," sparked tons of responses from those who either have also fallen victim to fraud, or who have advice about prevention. Here are some fascinating stories:

FRAUD: Another Dealer's Story
by Tracey Westbrook
A Visual Image, Inc.
A Visual Image, Inc. is also not a box sales house. We do, however, maintain a web-site for service purposes exclusively, no purchases may be made through it. Although the caller claimed to have found us off of the site, the call came in off of the Atlanta line that is forwarded to our Dallas office. The Atlanta line has not been published on our web-site for sometime, as that branch is closed. So, we're not certain how they found us.

FRAUD: Another Dealer's Story -- 2
by Kevin Hanley
Creative Video Works, DVD Producers
From my experience, I wanted to point out a couple of things that make the news worse.

FRAUD: Another Dealer's Story -- 3
by Allan E. Zesch
Panelight Display Systems, Inc
Fortunately in our eleven years of business we have only been taken by credit card fraud in two instances.

Making an Outdoor Club for Warner Brothers' Swordfish Screening
"This was such a unique project and a very interesting way to make a public spectacle out of a private gathering," said Michael Halper, Scharff-Weisberg VP of staging. Scharff-Weisberg handled the screening party for the premiere of this Warner Brothers thriller, which opened in June. The outdoor club included an outdoor nightclub, giant screens, dance stages and high-energy lighting.
