The Amish are an almost iconic culture that stands for spiritual purity and simplicity of lifestyle. Though they do not believe in using modern technology such as electricity, telephones, gas-powered vehicles or anything that might capture their image, be it video or film, they do attract a good amount of tourism to Pennsylvania every year. In an effort to enlighten the many visitors about the unique place the Amish hold in American history and culture, Brad Igou developed “The Amish Experience,” in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, to tell their story to people who take high-tech media for granted.



French Connections
Sculpting Sound for Stations on The Lyon Tramway

Since 1974, Bill Fontana has been creating works of sound art throughout the world including transporting the sounds of Niagara Falls to the outside wall of the Whitney Museum in New York, creating an “acoustic map” of the city of Venice and recently completing a project commissioned by the city of Lyon, France. In the summer of 1999, Fontana was invited by a French government organization that oversees public art to submit a design for a sound art installation for 18 stations along Line 1 of the Lyon Tramway.
