![]() Suggestions for the next big show I recently had dinner with Jason McGraw of ICIA. Jason is ICIA's Senior VP of Expositions and is most famous for organizing the ProAV market's premier trade show, InfoComm. We had a great meeting and he shared with me some of the exciting new plans for both the upcoming InfoComm 2004 in Atlanta, GA, to be held June 9-11, 2004 and the ISE show in Geneva, Switzerland, February 2-5, 2004. It is clear to me that both of these shows will help lead our industry into the AV/IT Convergence.
Powerful 3-pound unit delivers 1760 ANSI lumens Two weeks ago, the new Philips bCool XG1 showed up at my office and I put it through the ringer -- so to speak. In a market where most of the projectors out there are re-marketed and re-branded models from a few key manufacturers, I was curious how Philips, the only manufacturer and marketer of this particular unit, would stand up to the plethora of ultra-portables.
Plug it in, plug it in – 256MB of on-the-go storage for $100 Sometimes it’s the little things that can make all the difference. Verbatim’s Store ‘n’ Go USB 2.0 drive might qualify as such, because it can store a tremendous amount of data on a thumb-sized trinket that you can use as a keyring. We tested the 256MB model ($100 street) and found it to be a handy little device.
SMART Technologies’ SMART Board 2000i interactive whiteboard The hardware reviews in these pages typically focus on characteristics and performance, with little attention paid to the communications theory behind the technology. But as I got down to the business of reviewing the Rear Projection SMART Board 2000i interactive whiteboard, I could not ignore the fact that this category of audiovisual product tends to generate wide-ranging and sometimes wild raging debate. The scope of opinion comes from all corners, from meticulous academic researchers who underscore the value of interactive learning, to disillusioned corporate trainers who have watched as their newly installed machines gather dust. Particularly in the education and corporate training sector, these products get blogged and FAQed to death.
