Great for presenters and home theater enthusiasts If you're looking for a versatile projector that's equally at home in the boardroom for presentations and in the home theater for HDTV, NEC's HT1000 will satisfy both needs. We found it to be a stellar performer at displaying computer video as well as HDTV images with crisp resolution, vivid colors, tremendous brightness and deep, dark blacks. Here's our review.
![]() Home Theater Installers Thrive, Sony Keeps Polysilicon LCDs to Itself Earlier this month, I attended my eighth CEDIA show and was thoroughly impressed. CEDIA, the leading home theater and home automation show in the world, is like an older person's toy store. It's full of all those gizmos and gadgets that we all want in our home.
![]() Image editing and Web graphics creation software Macromedia Fireworks is one of about a dozen applications I use every single working day of my life. Designed originally as a relatively simple Web graphics tool, it has developed over the last few years into a more general-purpose graphics creation and image-editing application, along with the original Web animation and and optimization tools that have allowed it to survive and thrive amid the wreckage of those who have ill-advisedly made a play for a piece of Adobe Photoshop's market share.
![]() 15 decorative mesh shapes This week we return to the process of overtaxing your processor with yet another series of custom shapes for Adobe Photoshop, this time with 15 new styles to add to your ever-increasing library. As with previous collections, this new library includes a variety of decorative mesh styles, from wavy grids to complex, spiraling lines. Also in this article, I've decided to provide links to all of our previous free Photoshop downloads, including shapes, brushes, patterns and actions, to save you the time of hunting through the ol' archives.
You say you want a revolution? If you've ever reluctantly plunked down the coin for an upgrade that had nothing to sell but an "Improved User Interface" and "Increased Stability," then you're in for a pleasant surprise. Final Cut Pro 4 would be a substantial step even if it didn't come with Four Fab free programs! They tell you that it's evolution but this is one upgrade that wants to change the world. |
