Computers and PDAs have become faster and smaller, and cell phones are adding PDA features and taking pictures. And they are merging into a single device much sooner then most people thought would happen. HP puts together solid machine featuring new 3GHz P4 "C" chip, 800MHz front-side bus
HP sent us its latest XW4100 workstation, and it's sporting some brand new technology inside. Revving under the hood is Intel's newest chip, the P4 3.0GHz C, running alongside a fast new 800MHz front-side bus. The new P4 C also uses Intel's tricky hyperthreading technology, making one chip act like two. All this comes in a pleasing package, a fine product that's the first new desktop from the newly-combined Compaq and HP. Let's take a look.
Media Creative Philip Owens Creates Strong Visual Experience for Times Square Visitors
Philip Owens and his creative studio Spacevirus announce the design of two exciting multiscreen video presentations for the newest location of the Quiksilver Boardriders Club store in Times Square, New York. The work by Spacevirus not only appears nonstop on three huge (6' by 13') plasma screens above the storefront, but also on a ceiling-high videowall of 63 video screens within the store.
Using displacement and effects to distress an image
Readers are always asking me for the best ways to create distress effects on images. Of course, distress effects can be accomplished in a huge number of ways, some of which we've examined in past articles. But today we're going to go into Adobe Photoshop we're going to use its displacement functionality--plus a few filters--to create a rumpled paper effect, as if someone had taken your image, crumpled it up and then tried to smooth it back out again.
Apple stores to feature demonstrations at launch time
Apple today announced that it will be releasing Final Cut Pro 4 June 14 at 4 p.m. The software will go on sale initially at select Apple stores, kicking off with theater demonstrations and user stories.
