For $300 you could do much better
If you'd like to take DVD burning on the road or from computer to computer, MicroSolutions has released the Backpack DVD+RW external drive ($300), a unit that can get the job done, but not without a bit of set-up tension. Hooking up to your computer via USB 2.0, the unit works well enough, as long as you follow the instructions on how to set it up and download its proprietary drivers.

Let's face it: These days, to make it in business you have to find a way to do it better, faster and cheaper than the other guy. One of the ways successful businesses do this is through technology. Face to face communication is always optimal, but since the tragedy of 9/11 and with rising travel costs, more and more businesses both large and small, schools, and more are turning to video conferencing as the next best thing to being there in person.

SIGGRAPH 2003 comes to San Diego next month (July 27-31), and conference organizers say it will draw nearly 25,000 computer graphics and interactive technology professionals to a week of conferences, presentations and three days of exhibits of the latest animation-related hardware and software.(July 29 - 31) by more than 200 companies.
