Plasma and LCD displays duke it out
Five years ago, Mitsubishi shocked the world during NAB when it announced that it was out of the CRT manufacturing business. Mitsubishi said that it wanted to transition all consumer and professional screens over 20" from CRT to Plasma -- dubbed the "screen of the future." Flat, at only four inches deep, and using some of the same performance properties as CRT with a phosphor-based color system, the Plasma was off and running, with an advanced technology that left bulky presentation CRT monitors an artifact of display history.
True mobile workstation targeted at high end CAD and DCC application users
For several years, workstation vendors have been offering notebook computers as alternatives to the desktop workstation. The issues that plagued the workstation vendors when attempting to build a mobile workstation have increasingly been put to pasture as the march of technology rolled along.

Sometimes a technology is poised to take a great leap. That’s the case with large flat-panel displays. Not only are plasma and LCD screens rapidly changing; they’re beginning to overlap in size and price. That will lead to more competition, which will drive down prices even further. Add in an expected boom in consumer sales from people searching for the ultimate home-theater experience—with the resulting economies of scale slopping over into the commercial sector—and you have the makings of a product category that’s about to shift into overdrive.

What can I write about Apple's 17-inch PowerBook G4 that isn't already immediately obvious to anybody who looks at it? There's a reason notebook computers account for 42 percent of Apple's sales and a reason this model, in particular, has fueled these sales. It's beautiful, to be sure.
