CEDIA Home Theater/Automation Show: Marketing 101 At Its Finest

For years I have been intrigued by the "Home Theater" and "Home Automation" markets. Up until this year’s annual show, CEDIA, in Minneapolis, MN, I really couldn’t put a finger on it. I always kind of assumed it was because I am a gadget freak. CEDIA is really an eye-candy show -- every techno-geeks dream for the consumer audio- and video-phile. But, after walking the aisles for three days with about 20,000 other bewildered attendees, who, like me were amazed at the show’s growth in just 5-years from less than 5,000 people to nearly four times that number, I think I figured it out.
