My InfoComm 2002 Preview
By Gary Kayye, CTS
Guess what? AV is IT. All of a sudden, every manufacturer is introducing IT or "network enabled" products. Projector manufacturers are using the "network" to both control a projector’s functions but also to deliver PowerPoint to a projector without the usual VGA cable. And, some (i.e. Sony) are even doing it wirelessly.

Conference-room audio technology gets the credit it deserves
By Rock Stamberg
Digital technology has become firmly entrenched in the layout and design of corporate meeting rooms. As audiovisual and teleconferencing equipment gets smaller and more pervasive, conference-room design must evolve to meet the needs of increasingly savvy end users. “Since September, I’ve been called in to design a lot more boardrooms—more people are buying into videoconferencing,” says John Storyk, co-principal of the Walters-Storyk Design Group in Highland, New York. “Culturally, I’m seeing more people accepting this as a way of doing business.” Mark Tracy, director of marketing at Middle Atlantic Products, an AV furniture-design firm in Riverdale, New Jersey, says, “As equipment becomes increasingly sophisticated, designers need the ability to effectively update it.”

Image burn - how long?
I have read about potential image burn with plasmas on still images, but nowhere seems to state how long you can have an image up for before you are going to get problems. Is it going to be a problem after 1 min, 60 mins, several hours or what?
