As I mentioned in last week’s column, I am going to spend the rest of 2001 on products that I think are all unique, but, most importantly, simplify systems integration. Each product or company I feature in this series, I believe, is making a significant contribution to simplifying ProAV technology. No, these products can’t totally replace what’s in the market today, but they might just live by that 80/20 rule. And, if I were them, I would certainly be happy with 80% of the market applications, wouldn’t you?

Alliance to create ProAV market-specific research and news reports as well as offer existing Insight Media and Kayye Consulting reports to the ProAV dealers and manufacturers
Kayye Consulting, a N.C.-based marketing consulting firm and Insight Media, a Norwalk, CT-based market research firm, jointly announced a strategic alliance today. The alliance promises to bring more industry news, market research reports and technology reports targeted at the ProAV (professional audiovisual) and home theater markets.

Consumer electronics giant Sony Electronics has dabbled in the PC space several times over the last 10 years, with its latest foray beginning in 1996 with the introduction of the VAIO line of Windows-based computers. VAIO, which is an acronym for Video Audio Integrated Operation, is the company's consumer line of PCs which have some decidedly prosumer-level features in varying desktop and notebook footprints.
